" The Son of Alfred Pastor, Jacques" Pont Alexandre III bridge Quai d´Orsay , Paris
Jaques Pastor lived at 5 rue François Ier in Paris (VIIIth arrondissement). Maritime gendarme, he took part in the fights for the Liberation of Paris, he was hit by a shot while he was at the eastern corner of the Alexandre III bridge Quai d´Orsay. Taken to Necker Hospital in the XVe arrondissement, he died there around 7.45 p.m. The Ministry of Veterans and War Victims awarded him the mention “Death for France”. A commemorative plaque affixed to the Pont Alexandre III (bridge) recalls his memory.
This plaque is in memory of the French resistance fighter Jacques Pastor who fell here on 25 August 1944, during the Battle of Paris (19-25 August 1944).
